Desire - revealed from social network (Massing of information)

Just for imagination… Every mobile device drop the footprint whenever we use it in the city, like ants laying down pheromone for creating trails as information for their colony, the massive of information creates cumulative butterfly-dust-like mist, for itself for public, to read, communicate, migrate, and motivate. This pheromone emission is not driven by wind or endocrine, but with social events, networking, and communication changings – ground state.

Facebook check-in, twitter’s geo-point, and flickr’s geotag provide us not only information and tendency in people’s trend but also included these desires spatial relationship in the city. Analyzing and categorizing information from social network helps us to bring the issue. In addition, compare these data to the existing urban environment.

      This project tries to use an experimental and fictional way, the swarm, to smell, detect, hence to hunt down the conservative scenario in the city, also by using its own moment and behavior to create new typology in our city.
     Exarchia (Athens, Greece) ,also knows as the place of left wind and anarchists, we choose as a petri dish to breed the swarm. For instance, with its different characteristic neighborhood, Kolonaki and Omonia, these groups of people refuse to contact with each other, in political and physical ways. Thus, by this driving power the swarm can move around the periphery of these islands to test take out of the barrier of people.
     The drove is not only a metaphor of crisis moving around geographically but also what we learn from the riot in Athens. As an illustration, People vandalize during the riot in Greece, once separated individual and the crowd has been destroyed, nothing stands between them and the crowd.( Crowds and Power, Elias Canetti, 1962) People use this tactics to manipulate the fear of being touched. Consequently, this logic become the swarm take part of the block, to force people to communicate.
     The dancing swarm also pullulates these new kinds of predatory forms by its movement, velocity, and behaviors interacting with the environment. According to our hunter gather societies, aboriginals always use tattoos, clothes, and patterns on their body look like their own targets to prevent disturbing the victims. The swarm can use this tactics as a camouflage to simulate the crisis happened in Athens. As a result, when people see this they can recognize this as the monuments of the crisis, vice versa.
